i have a mate who is South African. I think i've mentioned here before that his 40th he had a meat cake. Basically sausages, and biltong and other dried meat sticks arranged in a cake like structure. You just picked off and ate the bits you wanted. He is serious about his bbq as well.

I tried this all purpose rub once and i've been addicted ever since: https://www.barbequesgalore.com.au/p/boars-night-out-white-lightning-double-garlic-butter-rub/HBNOWLDGARRUB.html and i know this is heresy coming from an australian but i think that we need to add this rub to the chicken salt option. Plain, chicken or white lightning should be the staple everywhere. In fact i'm almost at the stage where i keep one in the car and i ask for chips with no salt and put my own on.

The Biltong and Jerky Shop in Kenmore might have it. I see a few Cape Herb products in their online store.
