What if you’ve had little interest in anything Star Wars since Return of the Jedi, other than trying to beat one’s sister in law in saying May the fourth be with you before she does?
It was okay. I mean, it would be nice if they did trot out a new storyline every now and again but i was able to tell the kids about the seven samurai/magnificent seven stuff (which i think they used in one of the Mandalorian eps) and how star wars was all just movie tropes anyway because Lucas was a massive movie fan, but now it was just pastiche and too obvious (like a sledgehammer) now its not Lucas anymore. Hopefully the next couple of these movies deviate a bit from the usual seven samurai story and gives a couple of surprises (not holding my breath though). I reckon hollywood is trying to distil the "seven stories in the world" down to three and just keep releasing the same three movies over and over.
ha. I forgot about that one. Hilarious. Although its not like hollywood doesnt like a rehash on an old trope. I'll amend my criteria to: space neo nazis :)
I wanted to like it, but came away feeling disappointed and annoyed. There were too many slo-mo hero moments for the retroactive when they looked at the evolution of the Evil Empire. Wierd choices for when to use slo-mo.
Stuff like this always falls down when the good guys don't have a fleet. Why are we sending in ground troops? The rebels are in an isolated farming village on a mostly uninhabited moon? Please ready one 50 megaton collapser bomb and extinguish them now.
A simple change of location and make the rebellion on the homeworld and you've got your ground battle because dropping megaton busters on your homeworld is a bad look, even for authoritarian psychopaths.
I waiting for part 2 to drop before watching but if your hypothesis bears up, well spotted. So if it had been a remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1958 movie 'The Hidden Fortress', then it would be Star Wars right?

It's not like there isnt any ready to be made scifi stories out and about is there? Something with space nazi's would fit the bill . . . . ;)
Been done see: Iron Sky

yeah I missed that, but still enjoyed the show. didnt think it was a star wars rip off, just a nice (space) western with a familiar plot line...
