My 11 year old daughter has a bit of sleep disorder (long story) and was prescribed melatonin. It worked well getting her to sleep, but then she'd wake up an hour or so later. Because she'd been so sound asleep for the last hour, there was no chance of getting her back to sleep.
Quite a timely post as the ABC's What's that rash' podcast last week was titled "Is melatonin the answer to a good night's sleep? https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/whats-that-rash/melatonin-sleep-supplement-insomnia/104388918 longs tory short (TOO LATE) "Dr Norman Swan goes on to claim "when I look at some of the meta-analyses around it, it looks like it kind of has a bit of an effect, like a difference between seven or eight minutes with falling asleep or staying asleep".
Melatonin sure helps me sleep well. Unfortunately, it counteracts all of the arthritis meds and makes my days beyond painful. So, I forgo good sleep for acceptable daytimes. Do what works for you.
Maybe take a melatonin tablet on a non jujitsu night when you get your full sleep allocation. The migraine could be a symptom of short sleep rather than the melatonin, or a mix of the two...

Huberman is not a fan of melatonin. From memory the concern is it is helpful for getting you to sleep but counter-productive to staying asleep.
I think he had an alternative, but can't remember what it was.

I like your commitment to the scientz. Peeps here aren't enthusiastic about trying something again if it hurt the first time.
One is random. Twice is a coincidence. Three times? Enemy action. Avoid Brother Migraine like the plague, nothing good comes of it.
