I was ditzing around on the interwebz looking for something to write about when a story dropped into my feed about Obliterated, Netflix’s Tom Clancy/Hangover mashup.
I get you. Its one of the reasons I wait for a whole series to drop before I begin watching it. that way I can just focus my attention when I have down time and want to watch something I jump back into the series where I left off. Currently up to episode 5 of Monarch legacy of Monsters on Apple +, final episode due to drop this Friday. The I will start watching For All Mankind series four (last EP of season this Friday as well).
Memory slip as we age might be an engineered act of biology to protect us from stuff we’d rather forget . Same with second screen slips like sofa maybe. Keeps you from going down rabbit holes and binging . It ain’t all binge worthy.
we are killing it atm - we have just finished off five series we were watching and umm forgot. Picard was one of them. I must admit i really liked the end with the card game. Gave it a good feeling of finality.
Ugh I thought it was pandemic brained me that would watch one or two episodes of a show and go "well I don't hate it, but I'm also not riveted by it, it's fine...." and then forget I was even watching it when it came time to pick a show for that evening's entertainment.
This post reminded me that I started The Buccaneers on AppleTV, which should have been perfect sorbet for the mind fluff for a history nerd feminist like me, but I got 3 episodes in as a stop gap for the Bridgerton shaped hole in my brain and then I forgot I'd even started the bloody thing.
Was greatly relieved when I burned through the entire 3rd season of Slow Horses like my life depended on it, since that indicated I was still capable of focusing on something and remembering it existed.
I've got shows that I'd like to continue watching, but they're slipping to the right on my netflix/iview/prime scroll. Kinda the same thing.
Happens less often with books, for me. And music, fuggedaboutit- if I haven't bought yet I'm vanishingly unlikely to buy it now. I'm mostly too old to get into anything new, music-wise.
On the other hand, I outsourced my work memory to my Kindle Scribe and it has been brilliant. Which reminds me, I should probably do some work.
How do you remember outsourcing your memory?
How do I what now?
