Oh no! They are such great pots. Expensive, but worth it in terms of cost per use….. They do seem to have great customer service, though, from what I’ve read - may be worth getting in touch? There may be a shiny new pot in it for you.

I’m not certain but I think they have a lifetime guarantee and I’ve heard of this happening before and people getting a new one. Even after many years like this.

You had me collapsing on the floor in the foetal position just reading the title.

My, presumably knockedoff, Le Chasseur pot has a dink in the enamel halfway up the side. I've always been terrified of that dink, now more so.

When I read “it was the enamel exploding off the base” my first thought was the scene in _Chernobyl_ where the technician walks into the reactor hall and sees the control-rod caps bouncing up and down.
