Just hopped off an hour-long call with Stilgherrian for his podcast, the first time I've done a pod in a couple of years. I used to enjoy doing Spartacast at the old Burger, but it would take me two days to cut the edits together and it was way too much work for a hobby.
It was interesting to see how far the technology had come since I'd stopped paying attention to that side of it.
We used a service called Zencastr which was nice and simple, and seemed to be very powerful. It was all web-based. I just followed a link, put on the headset and started chatting with Stil. The platform does everything; it uploads an MP3 in real-time, and then a much larger High Fidelity recording afterwards. It even sinks up the tracks. As long as you don't close the tab, JB!
It was a fun chat, although it took me about 15 or 20 minutes to relax. By the end, however, we were both just riffing away on everything from Elon Musk's cyber pig to my love of pea and ham soup and Cobra Kai on Netflix. I love this so much that I'm going to do a big review essay at some point in the next week or so. But you can hear me rave about it when the podcast drops, probably on Friday.
I wrote a bit under two and a half thousand words today, but would have liked more. Unfortunately I woke up with a deadline migraine, so I'll take what I can get. I better get back to that chapter now, because I'd like to put it up at Patreon before I go to bed.
I miss Spartacast. The ever so long meandering trail of half logic brain explosions that somehow connected Ripley from Aliens to Samantha Keane in The Long Kiss Goodnight as being the most real female action leads (for the time) is like a favourite secret path that you take to get home. But definitely not a short cut.
Ok, I gave it another try and am now on-board. Not quite binge worthy, but have definitely started enjoying how it takes the piss out of itself. That really felt clunky in the first couple of episodes, but they have a better balance now

This was a fantastic chat, I really enjoyed your thinky on the topics covered.
So should I be watching Cobra Kai? I am about halfway through ep 2 and lost motivation. Does it get better?
I loved it from the get go, so maybe not for you. But it's the only show I've binged in ages.

I look forward to listening to it. "As long as you don't close the tab, JB" mmm sounds like a hard-learned experience.
Hmm nice. I'll look into translating my peasoup recipe into English.
Yeah, it has been a while since your last podcast. Looking forward to it!
