Late yesterday I sent the first title in the next Axis of Time series off to the Audible editors and would very much like to collapse now, but I have to moveonto Book 2.
Man, what a trek.
I’ve been working on this thing for years. It started off as a simple indy project, partly fan service, partly me just wondering what happened to all those characters. Got bought up by Audible as an exclusive title. Got delayed by the Russian invasion of Ukraine (a Russian invasion of Europe being the story engine of the new series). Got a slightly left-handed edit because the editor didn’t realise it was a later book in a long series. Oh, and er, Covid.
Feels like the engine is running properly now, however. So, pedal to the metal.
I have consulted widely with the CG crew and over at Patreon and we will allow you the whole weekend off, three light beers and one takeaway meal of your choice. Then get those fingers back on the keyboard. Cant be fairer than that.
I still remember when I saw WW2.1 in the bookstore and was like "John Birmingham? The guy that wrote felafel? Can't be. this looks like a sci fi technothriller."
Needless to say I was absolutely delighted to be wrong.
I just saw this post. Really looking forward to Axis 3 - it's been a while. Please don't forget the maps.
Interesting how times have changed (as it were). I recall from the earlier books that Uncle Joe had Putin's parents exiled to different ends of the Soviet Union so dear old Vlad would never be born. There's a silver lining to every cloud.
having read most of your books (some even twice) and thoroughly enjoyed them, hoping for a " Beginning of New Days " to sequel the "End of Days " Series
P.S: Rupert Degas's narration was the cherry on the top.
As much as I’d like to bitch about how long this is has been in the pipeline , really happy to see it on its way! Well done JB, all good things come in their own time.
Just something about reading a book. I tried audio but I’m listening while doing something else. I can’t do both. May have a touch of ADHD. Couple that with immaturity and it’s a no go on the audio.
I have to be doing something else while I listen, so I consume podcasts while I'm driving, folding laundry, gardening etc. Same for audio books, they're just longer podcasts for me.
"(a Russian invasion of Europe being the story engine of the new series)" the length some publishers will go to to promote one of their authors.
Woot! The last few years have been A LOT. Celebrate the progress! 🥳

Given the events overnight, I hope the new book doesn't also include a Russian invasion of Russia

Can't wait for this one.

Made my day . Can’t wait. Will it be in hardcover also?
Eventually, yes.

I do jigsaws while listening to podcasts - each must use different bits of the brain; I find it doubly relaxing.
Oh that’s a great way to do both activities 😍
