I caught up with The Killer on Netflix the other day. Loved it. It’ll probably become the video equivalent of comfort food in future for me. Which is weird when you think about. At least until you read this great bit in Esquire about The Killer and our love of snipers, or specifically, cinema’s love of a good sniper story.
I liked this one very much. Ms insomniac, not so much, as she fell asleep. After 10 or 15 minutes she was asking me if I liked it so far, which is a bad sign, except she chose it and I wanted to keep watching.
For mine, the finish was the best bit, as his self-help pop-philosophy mantra/narration crumbled under the strain.
I wouldn't call it whirlwind-gripping, and I don't think that his sniper (or the film) is in quite the same league as, say, Grosse Pointe Blank, but I'm sure I'll watch it again. Fassbender is very good.
I’m not the audience for this movie. I can’t be convinced that snipers are cool.
This is not a criticism because I don’t expect, or particularly desire, movies to be credible. But the opening did not enchant me. It seemed to present as some sort of accurate presentation of tradecraft, but there he was standing at the window in quite a bit of light watching people. And then, when he slipped away unmemorably, in a charming cream outfit and a bucket hat, it gave me a chuckle. Maybe that is David Fincher’s sly sense of humour.
Really loved this movie, loved all the detail and how he's such a well oiled machine when it comes to his tradecraft. Watched it a second time and enjoyed it just as much! Really makes me want to have my own storage facility full of neat stuff!
Not my thing but not one to yuck another's yum, I always love to hear, read when other folk wax poetic about what they like and try to explore why they enjoy it so much. Unless its something pathetic like making jokes that punch down, people like that I don't want to listen to their justifications.

Fassbender is just good . Whether it’s Steve Jobs or this flick. Hell he made Assasins creed watchable .
