Those are all grandad rock and should all be "You are either dead or own all the real estate".

I guess that a convincing argument for being "old" is when your own dad's record collection predates rock-and-roll...

I agree, but even then it's too grandad for this grandad.

Can confirm, definitely 'pretty fucking funny'. Love McSweeney’s work. Where does the rest of my generation (gen X, thank you Douglas Coupland) find new music. I am finding most of my new music I buy/listen to comes from streaming series soundtracks.

I usually pick a song I like and hit Spotify radio. And then add the ones I like to my Liked Songs. And then start a radio on them. Ad infinitum.

I still have friends that recommend me music as well.

That's an odd list (over three separate pages for some reason). Slightly horrified to realize that a significant fraction of my record collection is represented (although I don't recognize myself in any of the descriptions). What's odd about the list is that many of the bands that aren't in my record collection I've never heard of before. Is it an American-centric thing?

I find new music on youtube, bandcamp and friends and relatives. Nephews and children of friends are a surprisingly good source of leads.

Also: I have a slow drip of patching the holes in my dad-rock collection :-)
