I too loved it and giggled like a child when one of the characters declared 'War, war never changes". Which is from the game. Outstanding adaptation, no notes. Also those songs straight from the game. I read someone who said the successful video game adaptations, Arcane, Last of Us and Fallout feel like you are in the world, without necessarily telling the exact same story. I am pleased to see a second season has been approved.
I am a huge Fallout fan. I have played all the games and for many hundreds of hours. And I loved the show. I was excited every time there was a game mechanic reference. And the story is actually great. It answers a lot of questions from the game.
And that last shot. I nearly jumped out of my chair.
I've played all the games (apart from the gratuitous click-farm/micropay mobile ones) and the show is very true to the world and themes. However, unlike TLoU (which is a pretty straight lift of the first game), Fallout is a new story that doesn't retread any of the specific story lines from the games.
There are plenty of easter-eggs for those inclined, but I think it absolutely benefits from this approach.
Also, Goggins is fantastic! My only disappointment, after the brief appearance of another Justified alum in the first episode, is that there wasn't a Justifier to find in every episode.
i'm onto this as well and enjoying it. Never played the game, though the genre fits into my specific spheres of interest. Need more of it imo (i never got around to getting a hold of the last of us as it was on the 'other streaming platform'). I wonder how actors feel about the increasing use of green screens or those digital screens they used in the star wars tv shows. Must be a bloody hard gig to make the performance believable while standing in a room lined with green.
I played a lot of Fallout 4 over a long holiday several years back. When I returned to work my colleagues asked me where I went for my holidays and I said, ‘Boston’.
‘You went all that way and didn’t go to New York?’
‘Thassrite. But I did manage to take in Cambridge, Quincy and Concord.’
I wonder if they’ll ever do an adaptation of Asteroids ? Or Defender ? Or Battlezone? Lots of quarters and time spent on all 3 . Hate to think it was all for naught .
I played the game through (not the DLC bits though...yet) and enjoyed it - the clips of the show look spot on viz the game, and reviews I've read thus far say it good too. Shame I don't subscribe to Prime! I should note it was Fallout 4 I played...and that freebie game where you oversee a vault...

Yeah, I forgot about Last of Us. Undeniably great adaptation.
I played the game a bit, but wasn't a massive fan. Two episodes in and I'm enjoying it.
Totally agree, the story is hard to anticipate in a good way.
FRACK ME, now I have "crawl out through the fallout, baby...when they drop those bombs" song stuck in my head.
Never played the game but now I want to. I really enjoyed the first episode and am looking forward to the rest of the series.

that final shot indeed, we have to have season 2 now.

I'm on a slow burn telling ms insomniac I heard it's good.

Digging the show.
Never played or even seen the game, but this was a great show and worth paying a month of Amazon prime for

Defender was the greatest video game of all time.
I wish I had room for the arcade version . Imagine the hours saving astronauts and wasting mutant scum. All I need is Mt Dew and combos .
