On Netflix, for those like me who hadn't been paying attention to trailers or advertisements... The short looks good. Will give it a spin.

Two episodes in, I agree that it's compelling: I'm hooked. Some quibbles with the physics so far, but we'll see where that goes. Loved the gritty philosophical conclusion of the second episode.

*Sigh*. Adding this to the list for when I finish Masters of the Air.

Thank you for permission to admit I didn’t vibe with the book. Hopeful for the series once I get to it.

I smashed it all in a single weekend and it's been ages since I have done that with a show. I really enjoyed it. Wong is so great. And few things have made me feel powerless as the Sophons.

Oh good. I felt bad about not liking the books. Great concepts but depressing and irritating. And the admiral that lines up all the ships in the 2nd novel .. mmmm

But I'm enjoying the series on Netflix

Should be finishing a coupla things this week, and Masters of the Air is not in any of our subscriptions, so I'll line this one up based on your recommendation, JB.

Watched on ABC iView "Life After Life" based on the premise that it was time-wimey with a 'what if you could do it over?". But halfway through the last episode Mrs W turned to me and said "they're just not going to wrap up _any_ of the storylines".

hmmm, keep forgetting this is an option but doing a glacial house moving atm. I listened to the audio of this one and it draaaaaaged. Had to put it on 1.5 speed to get through it. Loved the ideas and the writing but the narrator was terrible. So much so i didnt go for the next in the series.

If it's got aliens then I guess I'll never get to see it.

"not because I loved the novel but because I sorta didn’t" well first of all HERESY. So I should also start with the declaration -I really enjoyed the novels.

The _weapon is reading them in the original Chinese which is pretty cool. He also made me aware that the Netflix adaptation's use of term San-Ti for the aliens is from the original Chinese, in the novel translation which I read they are called Trisolarans. I watched the Chinese 30 episode series and also enjoyed it. I agree that its more faithful to the original books.

I am up to episode 6 and I agree as an adaptation which face a significant challenge of bringing this epic to the screen it's an amazing effort. (almost makes up for the final season of GoT, almost) I hope they get to make the remaining novels.
