3rd day of antibiotics here. Nothing worse than feeling like hammered shit when it’s 90+ outside . Reread Final Impact over the weekend though . Caught up on The Mandalorian. Made some kick ass Cheesers .

Been there already too. Hacking cough and lost voice followed by snot. You’ll need a week for sure.

I hit like. But I do not like.

Thanks for the warning!

I trust that your protocols are effective. Just remmeber: it could be worse. They've just sequenced the prehistorice horror-viruses that are waiting to be thawed from the arcitc, and claim that there's 30% fatality rates waiting for us there. All practice and drills serve a purpose. Gibson's "Jackpot" seems ever more likely...

Just to be the pedantic child of a registered nurse... is it the flu, or has a cold found its way into Chez Birmingham? 🧐

It's not too late to get the flu vax if you haven't had it yet; the nice pharmacist who gave me my 5th Covid shot and my flu shot (at the same time because that's how children of nurses roll) got Influenza strain B 2 weeks before the vax came out, thanks to the germ factory masquerading as his child's school. He gave it zero stars, did not recommend.

its in our house as well - we suspect caught on the plane back from Brisbane. I didn't go on that trip to the inlaws but i have copped it now. The version we have is like a slow release version. Day1 bit of a scratchy throat, day 2 feel a bit shit, day 3 still shit but no escalation, day 4 surprise! you do have a decent dose of it. My other half is also laid flat - i'm not as bad but feeling a bit body achy and crap but can still manage to walk around the house and moan about my predicament (doesn't help that the old man passed away on thursday morning as well - hence why i wasnt in QLD and doing bedside duty instead)

Wow, hope you manage to avoid this, whilst a good chance to test your protocols I'd rather not have to put them to the test. Good luck and hope the family recovers without significant impact. Have to confess Planet Plague was one of my preferred apocalypses.

*finger crossed the lurgy avoids you*

We had one here that flattened my two housemates for two weeks each. I got away with a mild dose that was no more than a sore throat for a week a bit of the sniffles.

Yeah, it's knocked my wife flat. And she never takes time off.

I've had this lurgy for well over a week now. If your family is down with the same one, then I can confirm that it sucks.

If you get this one, lucozade ain't gonna save you, compadre.

My late father tried the old school remedy of a large glass of straight Frigate OP rum to cure the flu. Seemed to work - he ended up a bit tiddly and went off to bed, waking the next pronouncing himself basically cured. Hard say if the night of rest or the paint stripper-like rum burned out the germs/virus...

Is there any difference between a lurgy and a massive rum hangover?

Taking a lurgy on board isn't half as fun as taking on the rum (pre hangover)?
