Never seen the show myself, but stumbled on this awesome essay a while back on what it was like to film - probably well worth your time! https://www.outsideonline.com/culture/books-media/naked-and-afraid-real-blair-braverman/

Reminds me of the short lived reality Discovery channel TV series "The Colony" set in a warehouse in an abandoned industrial area in a simulated post-apocalyptic environment. ", that the ‘people’ we met wouldn’t even seem like people to us but more like monsters." honestly a lot of the people in this series behaved as if they were already monsters and had just wanted the thin layer of civilisation to be scrapped away to behave how they thought everyone else would.

My current favourite in this genre is Alone. It seems to have a lot less bullshit than most reality shows.

Synopsis is that they drop people on their own in the bush somewhere (mostly Canada) with a little bit of gear and leave them to it. The contestant has to do all their own filming, and apart from medical checks are left completely on their own and need to build shelter and hunt for food. Last person standing pockets the money. What makes it really tough is that they have no idea of what the other contestants are up to, and it's open ended so you could be out there for three weeks or three months.

SBS have the first half dozen or so series on their streaming service. Well worth a watch.
