I've been quietly tracking my calories for about six months now, trying to stay in deficit most days while keeping my protein intake high. Mostly I do pretty well, but pasta is always a downfall. I love it so much, but it does not love my macros.
Friday night Jane and I headed over to Springhill, to Sisco café, where they do a charming little locals’ night once a week. Don't you be heading over there. It's locals only.
Jane booked us in for this session, and all I knew was that it was a set price and there would be some nice Italian wines to drink. I ordered a glass of red that I’d never heard of before and made ready to loosen the eatin’ pants when this platter turned up.
The quality of all the different meats and cheeses was superb, and I remember thinking that this was a good deal for a set-price menu.
And then the mains began to arrive.
Tectonic slabs of lasagne followed by veal parmigiana and meatballs on mashed potato.
And then I found out that Armie’s Nona was visiting from the old country, and had made her special tiramisu.
I was already halfway through the lasagne when I realised if I finished this meal I would die, and I had to finish the meal because... Nona!
I finished the meal. And the meal finished me. I was in metabolic shock for about 24 hours afterwards. I don't know how they served up that much food for that amount of money. Because it was so good. But it felt like Sunday afternoon before I had recovered. And I'm not looking forward to my weigh-in this week
Nona, summoned from the kitchen to deal with this recalcitrant man baby who won't finish his dinner and thereby earn her special tiramisu: "BUT A GROWING BOY LIKE YOU NEEDSA FILLING UP!! EAT EAT!! OR NO DESSERT!"
And then you'd have received a double helping of tiramisu for being a good boy and eating all your dinner. You were lucky to survive 😂

Holy crap it’s like you were there
Nonna's a feeder and you probs looked a bit peaky
My guess is that the name and location of the restaurant has been changed, to protect JB's chances of booking for next month.
Brisbane looks like a garden of fresh delights from my vantage point. Good Lord!
That does sound delightful but I'm sure it was the witty dinner conversation that was the highlight.
