I stayed at the Vagabond Club on the edge of Little India while in Singapore, partly because it had a whisky library, pictured above. It was, of course, ridonkulously spendy.
Just off-screen to the left in this photo, you’d find a 21-year-old bottle of Pappy van Winkle. Or at least I think it was 21. My eyes were watering so much at the five-grand price tag that it was hard to tell.
The old Menzies Hotel in Sydney had amongst its dozens of bars the Highkand Fling. A shitload of different whiskers. You could get a passport and get it stamped. Think it was 50 stamps and you got your choice of a freebie. That's about all zi can remember of it. Was about twenty meters from.my work at the time. That joint was a real.gem.
I was at the good things festival a few weeks back seeing TISM for the first time in my 50 times around the sun, it was a great show. Nofx played a terrible set afterwards, although I think Fat Mike was distracted by TISMs final song Defeacte on My Face about those coprofile rumours of Herr Hitler. Anywho we went to the beer tent and found that Melbourne had drunk the bars dry of beer. We had to buy whiskey mixers , in cans, and they were fk awful. They tasted like whiskey and it left me wondering about the appeal of whiskey in general. Which also reminds me why I have a bottle of nant whiskey unopened , mint in box in my bedside table for the last 8 years.
TISM were headlining somewhere in Brisbane the night that Joh lost the election. They had the election coverage playing on TVs at either side of the stage, and the venue (including them) went totally off their nuts when it was called. Needless to say: best concert ever.
(No obvious relationship with whisky or Singapore, I'm afraid. Sorry for going off-piste.)
The Atlas bar has a similar set up but ten meters tall. Bottom left is the standard gin the higher the shelf the better the gin. It's a thing of beauty, worship and aspiration.
Singapore is on my bucket list, I want to chew gum and go to the Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling.
We did just that. I'll post something about it later.
I had the most expensive perfectly normal beer ever, in the long bar at Raffles. Has to be done at some point, I suspect.

My go to hotel in Singapore also! How did you like the ear worm lift music and video?
Rooms are rather small but it’s got a lot more character than most other hotels.
OMFG THAT LIFT VIDEO ENDED MY FAITH IN HUMANITY

It was the Livid Festival. I was there, not watching the bands much.
This seems a bit...excessive?
Is a whisky library where you borrow a bottle and return it in a slightly worse condition a week later?
Yes. But it costs you five grand.

Yeah that was on our list but it was booked out weeks in advance.
