Choose the hill you want to die on .....wisely. . Those hills are dwindling for me more and more all the time . And as you get older you realize a lot of em are made of quicksand or a mirage.

And if you do die on that hill, there will be no gravestone stating that at least you cared. Your enemies will crucify you upside down and salt the hill to make an example of you. And when the hill is rezoned and bulldozed, you will still get blamed because nothing grows there anymore.

Once you've selected the hill, build a big F.O. mausoleum to your legacy / vanity. Then remember Ozymandias.

This is a fascinating thought, the conversation shaped around the absence or void of something of known importance.

For myself these days its more to support my own mental health, trying to argue with people who I care about who have hurtful misunderstandings about the world I have to weigh the decision if the impact on my equanimity is worth it for the chance to change their opinion.

HOWEVER If there is someone present who is hurt or endangered by this misunderstanding then fuck my mental health I am going to step in to argue just so they don't feel that the world is full of ass-holes who hate them.

It's important to remember that you may end up arguing with an idiot who will normally drag you down to their level and beat you with experience at that level.

Nah, you shouldn't worry about that, I mean statically how many idiots could be out there, a couple, maybe dozen at most?

Speaking of the Blueskys: I understand that you were an early invitee and adopter, and they've recently allowed just anyone to sign up. Have you noticed anything of an "eternal September" nature as a result of that? Or are the new algorithms magically keeping the signal-to-noise level in a good zone?

I haven't seen a heap of new crazy on board, which is good, because the way that platform works you see EVERYTHING in the timelines of the people you follow, whether they're talking to you or not.

That reminds me - is it true bluesky is open to the rest of us garbage humans now? And is it because the Zuck got threads going and BS thought they'd miss out? Or they were going to do it anyway and now just happened to be the right time?
