This would be a chocolate-covered lock if it weren’t for Sweden and Germany. It's still pretty strong but if you take them out it’s an arrow shot from China to Switzerland.
I wonder why they’re such outliers - but in opposite ways? Germany eats so much chocolate they should be rolling in Nobels. Whereas Sweden is a bit laggard, but still all gonged up. Probably from all the Ikea scientist prizes for flat-pack sciencing.
Could be something to do with Nobel being a Swede, the committee being Swedes, and old and male with it? Presentation ceremony in dinner suits at the Stockholm Concert Hall?
Not sure why Germany skews down. Possibly because they have a fairly large population and because they eat a lot of chocolate? (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria and Switzerland are all on the ballpark of 5-10Million. Germany has 83M.)
How many of the United States Nobels would have otherwise been attributed to Nazi Germany's hardworking scientists? Or more generally, wherever scientists fled to.
mmm I can imagine a significant amount of p-hacking went into turning up this correlation

Is the nobel prize racist? There is a whole bunch of white in the top end there. I know its mostly filled with men. oh god, am i woke? goddammit.
I did a quick google search and it doesnt hold up. Wikimpedia says so!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_Nobel_laureates_per_capita Saint Lucia should be up the top there and . . . . actually it may turn out right, they export a whole bunch of cacao to europe for fine chocolate.
