3.49 is when I wake up from my post lunch siesta. punch out some witty comments on Teams chat, drop a final few emails to random managers and reschedule any late afternoon meetings to never.
What's worse is a never-ending day where there is no set schedule. You hump the whole day (or night), and you finally crash in some random spot, exhausted. Then your sleep is disturbed by some idiot who you would have never met or spoken to under normal circumstances. Rinse, wash, repeat.
At 3.49, I do the same as as 2.49 - sweet fanny adams. I start early and try to get all the useful stuff out of the way before 1300. Afternoons are for gaming, scrolling, shit-posting, YT holes or calming walks in the garden. I love working for myself. Forgotten what office work is like.
mine ebbs and flows - could be i'm trying to rush stuff out before i head home and sometimes i'll be at a loose end. I dont work with anyone in my team so there's no-one to really natter with. Loose end time is usually time to tinker on good to know stuff but i try not to delve into brain hurting material. Sometimes i'll put on music and do some long outstanding mind numbing task that needs doing. If i was still working in finance in the city it'd be smoke and mirrors and my best impression of David Copperfield and heading to the pub with the usual likely subjects. But i always need to have a walk at lunch - if i dont i find the motivation down to zero. Need that boost in the middle to help out for the rest of the day.
Depends. If I need to get something done by committee, have a meeting. No one wants to be there, will skim through the list and sign off on pretty much anything as they are imagining what kebab to have after their 5th beer when they walk out the door.
I call it junk time. Usually it's the last 2-3 hours on a Friday afternoon. If every things done for the week, I'll usually spend it doing R&D projects or experiments. I work in IT so there's always more things you want to try out then there are hours in the day. Is a good way to stay in touch with various new and old things that crop up.
Finally, my specialist subject.
1. Check out the burger.
2. Annoy my co-workers
3. Late afternoon coffee run - involve at least 5 other staff
4. New spotify playlist to make me more productive
5. Read up on stuff for tomorrows meetings so I can appear smarter than I am
6. Check out new jobs where my genuis will be appreciated
7. Make list of jobs for when I get home
8. Plan the weeks menu
9. Look up best Netflix shows to watch
10. Impromptu table tennis tournament to build moral.
Aah, this. This is what I hoped and expected.
Can confirm 1, 2, 5 (on occasion), 8 and 9. Can also add:
11. Late flurry of excel/word/emails when I realise that there was actually something that I intended to do that day.

12. Sneakily read Jason Lambright's Patreon content at my desk.
I just stop working, but 3.49 could be 1.37 or even 11.29.
Granted, it is much harder to achieve in the actual office, but I reckon it can be done.
