Welcome to middle age. Sketchers, huh? We will ease you into the Brotherhood of New Balance soon enough.

I have the same issue with shoes and clothing. She That Abides is always calling out my penchant to wear everything until it is threadbare.

You gots to take care of those feets. I’m a big fan of Birkenstock now after years of avoidance due to the smelly hippie connection (I have 3 pair now - classic sandals, BirkrnCrocs, as I call them, for the pool/beach, and slip ons to wear during work/around the house. For day to day, when B-Stocks not appropriate, I like Salomon casuals. She That Abides gifted all of the above.

I dont mind New Balance. I've had some before. They were fine. I'm just shocked at how comfy actual walking sneakers are. Feels like a trap. A delightful comfy trap.

Be careful, they will make the walk to the local bakery so much easier!

My old trainers become yard shoes and I currently have 4 pairs depending on the outfit and the mood. I go through more yard shoes than gym shoes though so perhaps I should invest in work boots. If I am using the chainsaw or something like that I have my old army GPs - still in good order from 1982 but I feel steelcaps might be useful these days to mill the rest of the logs. In all the GPs are still by far the most comfortable to wear.

Environmentally it makes sense to wear out clothing, so embrace it I say.
