Every couple of years the girls head off to a conference. Cue making a big pot of two bean Chile for one. Dinner, next day ~ breakfast (on toast), lunch and dinner again. With liberal lashings of Kaitaia Fire (it's a sauce, Google it). Kinda like Valhalla but with a lip smacking cool farting aftertaste.

A simple recipe is Rice with Kerry. What you need is about 100grams of rice p.p. which you boil, a pound of ground beef, pork or mix and two big onions (to be chopped). Stirfry the meat and the chopped onions and serve with a warmed up curry sauce.

Goat curry is my one (as people refuse to acknowledge how good it is in curry). Dal makhani also makes the list because people in my house turn their nose up at lentils.

The limit is only four for carbonara. Aglio e Olio has its own rules. The internet suggests that both parsley and cheese are optional.

Also check out Cacio e Pepe, which also only has four ingredients, two of which are cheese. (One of the cheeses, Parmesan, is optional.)

Spaghetti Vongole has six (spaghetti, vongole, olive oil, garlic, chili, parsley) but makes up for it by being the best :-)

Also: Nat's (what I reckon) Bolognese recipe works well and does for about three meals at our place, with a variety of pastas (penne my preference). Fridges well, and like many such sauces seems to improve slightly with a bit of fridging.

Now I'm making myself hungry too. Guess it's pasta for dinner tonight!

My own forbidden creations include grilled cheese, with Texas toast smoked Gouda and cheddar and brisket if it’s available . Chili dogs . But very specific hot dogs grilled , grilled butter buns and Cherry Garcia ice cream for desert.

So I use Tommy dogs which are the dogs they serve at Nebraska football home games . And the outfit that processes our beef makes up about 4 to 5 packages of dogs for us every year . I know where that beef comes from at least. Mixes in a little pork. But I’ve used Nathan’s . They’re good too
