It’s a bit sad that Dr Who has left the ABC and materialised over on Disney+. We have the rodent network as one of our many, many streaming packages, so I guess we won’t miss out. But lots of people will.
That show was a huge part of my childhood and later years on campus. I spent a lot of time peering out between couch cushions, terrified by the monster of the week when I was younger. And as a student you could find me Monday to Thursday on a barstool at the Qld Uni Rec Club, with a burger and a beer for dinner and the Doc.
I guess the audience will grow, Disney being Disney. And the budgets will explode.
But I dunno.
It kind of sucks. Insert more old man grumbling here.
man, we clocked out of the doctor ages ago. Not sure why - i think it was the kids not clicking with Mr Capaldi and then it fell by the wayside like an old friend. You see their name every now and again and wonder how they are doing.
I get that business is business. Still sucks big time. Yeah, recent seasons have been iffy, but the latest ep with the reincarnation was the best that it has been in a while.
Nothing is sacred, money talks and bullshit walks. If enough of us do the old man grumble, will anyone listen?
Saturday afternoon John. As you say, peering between my fingers for Jon Pertwee to mess the Dalek plans. Good times. It was followed by The Banana Splits, Danger Island etc. How politically incorrect was Danger Island!!!! Great memories. I used our Siamese cat, Sheba, as a pillow - she didn't mind. Definitely good times. But it is a little sad that its left ABC for sure.
We can only hope it turns up on Auntie later when the exclusivity period (if such a thing exists) ends. It's sad and a bit infuriating, Doctor Who and the ABC are so intrinsically linked this feels like a tiny death has occurred.
If only old man grumbling could be harnessed as a power source. A bit like nuclear without the radiation but still prone to the occasional meltdown.

They did the same thing with South Park :(
Another step in the inevitable Tory privatisation of the BBC.

Omigod I remember that line up

Could have been worse i.e. they sent it to channel 7 or 9 and peppered it with sportsbet ads.
This.
