I totally get it, I was outraged reading that the crappy sandwich was $9, and then nodding in satisfaction that your baguette was $18. I'd totally pay that for fresh baked bread with proper butter. Quality vs value indeed.

Good fresh bread is possibly the greatest food of all time.

What a great story. I admit first visit to a new cafe ham, cheese, tomato toastie is my calibration order. I can assure you the claim "pretty hard to fuck up a toasted sandwich" there are many who have given it a red hot go.

And I would rather half as many meals of $18 pork rillette than twice as many under toasted, non melted cheese processed ham toasties.

Why is it that all these amazing places to eat are 9200 miles away? Damn, I want some of that bread.

i had to laugh in commiseration. Also had those disappointing meals that leave you looking for more. Seeing we are on the topic of food can i recommend everyone try a german cheese butter thing called obatzda? Came across it on the oktoberfest weekend and o.m.g.

Wikipedia describes it as "..a bavarian cheese delicacy. It is prepared by mixing two thirds aged soft cheese, usually camembert and one third butter. Sweet or hot paprika powder, salt and pepper, as well as a small amount of beer". That and . . . lets say a fresh baguette, would be heaven.

Ok so we went. New favourite for drinky-poos and snacks. Best thing is we don’t have to take the kids as there’s nothing but wine. Heaven.

The best breakfast burrito I’ve ver had was found in a truck stop convenience store a few miles away. And I’m surrounded by some pretty f’n good Mexican restaurants here. The truck stop has a small kitchen and they make everything fresh every morning. The owner said they sell about 100 every morning. Sometimes value is just plain luck

Damn. Another place I now have to visit. At least it is on the right side of the river, and there's a half decent gin place in Albion along with Fonzie Abbott coffee and the Hudson corner BBQ joint so could just make a day of it. Forgot Brisbane's best bakery as well Brewbakers.....
