I had one of those unusual experiences last night that really make this story telling business something special. I have a new title, and hopefully a whole new series, coming out with Audible and they sent me some samples of different narrators reading the same passage of text.
I almost never read my books again after they're released. But I always listen to them when they get recorded because for some reason it's like hearing the story for the first time. Literally of course, but also figuratively.
I was wondering how I'd go, sitting and listening to the same stretch of narrative over and over again. Would I preference the most recent performance, or the very first, which I came to fresh? But I needn't have worried. Each of those narrators told a different story with the same words.
It was kind of amazing to hear. I honestly don’t know how they do it.
Rupert Degas in your End of Days series was Jedi Master level. He wasn't just narrating the book, he was telling your a story, sharing a secret, imparting some wisdom, to just you. Taking the time to emphasise the important points, to drill down to the nitty gritty details you would miss if you just skimmed over the book.

What you say is true. One of these days it would be sweet to release something in an audio format.
Ever tempted to go completely wild and choose say a Pee Wee Herman voice to narrate a series of political drama or Helen Mirim to narrate Falaffel?
That must be a real dilemma for you though; how on earth are you supposed to pick just one narrator out of that line up?
Was Rupert Degas one of them? Because he'd be a shoo in surely?
