Heading o/s in one week. Three weeks in the UK. Not saying I'm going to use this, but won't say nay either.

So want to believe...

The Icelandics have other, simpler mechanisms for preserving your freedom from email while on holidays. They don't peer mobile data with Telstra (at least - perhaps vice versa?), and have really good mobile service, so you can run up hundreds of dollars of bills in seconds. BTDT. Safest to leave phone and data turned off. Bingo: problem solved.

Was traveling with my parents. My Dad turned his iphone on on arrival and it immediately decided to do a software upgrade. The regular "ding" of SMS messages arriving from Telstra, each warning of an extra $100 being added to the bill was almost hypnotic. Quite a few happened before he found the control setting to turn mobile data off. Expensive lesson.

I would so love to see the horse-message system in action though. The video is great.

I can also imagine cut-price alternative systems being set up. Call-center sweatshops full of cats, who we all know can be trained to walk on keyboards. Or rather, can't be trained not to.
