its been ages since i've tuned into a Simpsons episode and amazed it still has an audience big enough to still be so iconic. It felt like the characters were becoming caricatures of themselves spiraling into a tighter straight jacket of what the fans thought was funny and i just drifted away armed with a bucketful of quotes from the old days. I wonder if there will be a rainy day period to try and catch up and see what has happened in the last 10yrs or so.

Its also interesting that with this series having run so long with the same characters being timeless then the same actors voice these characters but now many in their voices you can hear the changes their age is bringing. No doubt Fox is scrambling to attempt a horrific AI voice simulation to take over, shudder.

Thanks for the read - nice way to start the end of the week.

Thinking about it, I’d say I have an aversion to watching shows that seem to just go on and on. I can do a few seasons, but then the writers have to keep doing more crazy & bizarre story lines to keep it going’. Could never get into soaps for that reason.

Watched Simpsons during school and uni, and later switched to South Park, but even stopped watching that. Ditto Friends, X-Files etc - I couldn’t keep going season after season.

I think I could go back to South Park, probably not back to Simpsons. The only show I did go back to as an adult was Dr Who when it ‘re-launched’ with Christopher Eccleston. But then I’ve not seen it in a while either - apparently I’m not missing much now it’s on Disney.
