"And yes, yes, I know I could just carry a book. If that book was the size of a phone. But even mass-market paperbacks don’t fit into a pocket."

AND AND AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FINISH YOUR PAPERBACK HUH? You're either forced to carry TWO paperbacks or you're left with nothing but your own thoughts to entertain you, like some 1990s BARBARIAN. Or social media. And we already know that way madness lies.

Great, if you are a keen reader of comics or graphic novels. Otherwise, not so much.

When I had my leather jackets made I specified pockets big enough for a paperback, thankfully that's also big enough for a kindle in a cover. As to a colour Kindle I don't need it.

I have been happy with the Kindle paperwhite for reading my Birmingham generated explodey goodness and have not seen the need for colour. Not since Comicology was absorbed by Amazon. I don't think I want anything smaller than the paperwhite to read a book on, I have read a book on the kindle app on my phone and found it less than optimal. I can see the benefit of a basic text reading tool in the quest to reduce social media focus.

I left my slab of Samsung glass on a plane. Luckily I bought 20 dollars worth of travel insurance so I got a newer bigger slab of Samsung glass , which has the kindle app and I can make the font huge l. So really I I don't think will get another kindle for a while. Plus I can make movies with my Galaxy. https://youtu.be/ie6bczeBGis?si=RmrVuUsCT1jv1aSZ
