I dodged it a few weeks ago; went out for lunch with my mum, where she was complaining about a bout of hayfever... got the call the next morning that she had finally succumbed to the spicy cough. Immediately panicked and had my BFF drop some tests around (she stood outside my front door and threw them at me - thank goodness I work from home). Spent a week freaking out every time I sneezed and testing myself until I finally accepted that I'd managed to avoid getting it. I had 4 trips over to the plague states in 2023 and was convinced on each one that this time I'd get it, so kind of amazed that I managed to dodge it even when I had a close call at home.
Speaking to colleagues over east who are shocked I'm a novid, and then they cheerfully tell me they've had it twice or three times leaves me wanting to disinfect my web cam and monitors. I've had moments wondering if I'm just Stu in The Stand, and I'll end up the last uninfected person on earth as everyone around me succumbs. Such happy thoughts 😂
Well, hubby came home from flood recovery and promptly started coughing, sneezing, etc in time to put the kibosh on our Christmas outing. But multiple tests say not covid. We are both still novids. I thought that I was very clever and had missed out...nope. Been coughing etc since Friday. If this is just a cold/virus I think covid would see me off! Even with all the jabs! Hoping that everyone here stays healthy and happy in this sure to be strange new year.
We had the same thing right before xmas where we were due to go to mum's for the big event. Went to the neighbours place 5 days before and got a text the following day. . . . . thanks for that. But we came up negative the morning of travel and no symptoms and no-one has come down with it so looks like we dodged it as well. We did have our booster at the end of Nov so figuring that might have helped.

Good times. Been there, done that.

Good dodge, some of the new variants, looking at you JN.1, are nasty.

Always good to dodge a bullet.. Our eldest son came home from the mass spreader event known as Schoolies 2023 with a nice dose of the spicy cough..
He might have bitched about the pizza / flatbread/ whatever could fit under the door diet, but thankfully the rest of the family was spared….
Covid ain't what it used to be anyway, back when it was v1.0. Obviously I hope not to go around with it again, but my only bout was pretty innocuous.
