I hit send on the manuscript for The Shattered Skies, the second book in the Cruel Stars series last night. That was a relief.
I'd hoped to finish it way back in mid December, before the Christmas/New Year holidays shut everything down.
But hope is what kills us.
It was pretty obvious the whole thing needed restructuring and I wasn't getting away with the 90K word draft I'd planned for.
Instead I wrapped it at 134K last night. Sent it to my US publishers, and woke to a very sad email from my UK guys this morning.
"Where's our treat, JB?"
Normally those emails get the back o' me hand, or a lot of grovelling excuses and promises to do better. It was nice to be able to reply with a completed ms.
Really looking forward to the Shattered Skies and must admit I was a bit bummed when I saw the Amazon notification today it was delayed. Hope all is well mate and keep up the good work!
Writing back to your UK publishers with "Oh, THIS TREAT I PREPARED EARLIER?" must have been sublime ☺
I did rather enjoy that, yes.
Just finished Cruel Stars...loved it, cant wait for Shattered Skies!

I suppose I can wait.
I'm working my way through The Deathworlders saga.
And you are still waaaaay ahead of at least one author and several hundred web-comic producers.
Thank you.
Looking forward to it, you've been skylarking, spending too much time polishing the gold hovercraft.
Where’s my beta copy? <snort>
