I remember a panhandler was giving me a hard time in English, trying to score some bread. I acted as if I didn't understand him and told him to get lost in German. He switched over without missing a beat and started in on me in German, which was much better than mine. Sigh. No end to scammers. Those people are seriously slick.
for a while there my IG account was riddled with vids of people calling out pickpockets. Almost to the point where i was suspicious of the motivation of the vids (as they are usually manufactured for views and then advertising $$). I'm not big on cities myself but would love to wander through some of the more natural parts of the US where i'll most likely end up being a victim of the big furry pickpockets they have over there. Never understood the worlds horror with Australian critters that will kill you for no (or little) reason (all it takes is a bit of caution). I'm endlessly fascinated with the animals that see you as food and will chase you down if you look sideways at their offspring, and I worry about it in the small hours of the night :)
Yep. Been there, had similar attempted on me. ATM in the UK but heading to France next week then a rugby tour followed by Ireland, Spain and back to London before heading home. No doubt more shenanigans coming our way….
I never seem to have those issues. Although I don’t notice so much, with quite a few centimetres and kilograms, I guess I am fairly imposing, enough for peeps to not try.
