"ridonkulously difficult but aesthetically edgy " resonated with me. Having an offspring who is studying civil engineering and during the course of his studies developed a deep and abiding loathing for architects and their 'vision' vs "there is no room for ventilation or cables in the design" I think I can picture this entryway. Also Theodore von Kármán deserves better than being the latest name given to ridiculous capitalist rivalry objects.
There are many that come after the king, but the crown still remains. I have an upstairs and a downstairs Aeron now. At least that recommendation turned out well, unlike the JasJam incident.
Have you ever tried one of those kneeling chairs? My dad used one for a while. Comfortable to work at, but absolutely no slouching option: no back. Not for me: I have time in my day for slouching...
I have a Steelcase Leap chair, which is both the most expensive office chair I've ever bought and the most comfortable. I upgraded from a $300 Office Works job to the Leap, which through auspicious timing and internet sleuthing magic I managed to get on sale for around $1200 AUD.
The single best part of the Leap is that the backrest lets you recline effortlessly, and when you do the seat slides forward with you so your position doesn't change. And when you're done reclining and sit up everything moves back into place with you. It's a great chair. Not perfect, but I have zero regrets forking out that kind of cash for it.

What ever happened alternating between a swiss ball and standing desk?
Kept falling off the ball.

How does it fit with your newfound confirmation/old time love of slouching?
I had to commission a special neck pillow to allow me to slouch properly in this chair. Expensive but worth it.
Inferior furniture=bad.
Jeepers! Those Herman Miller Aeron chairs cost well over $2000. Imagine how much they’d cost if they included a cushion!
