Watched the Netflix series, watched the 30 episode Chinese language Tencent series, Read the four book Trilogy (sic), worn the T-Shirt and signed up for the extended disco remix.
I mainlined it. I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The novels are pretty fucking grim, setting an entirely new level of dark feeling about the universe and I wasn't sure it would translate well. But it did, and it did it well.
I've finished the series, and wait patiently for the next one. The end was a beautiful balance of tying things off and leaving unexplained and cliffhangers, IMO. Good. I thought that the pacing was some of the best in a TV series I've seen: all of the episodes were meaty and carried their own part of the plot, and all of them were well paced themselves, and the series was short enough to not run out of steam. Very expert hands, no doubt.
I mentioned that I had qualms about the physics in my last comment, but (surprisingly) they answered most of those as the show went on. This is reaching, but still properly hard-science science fiction, and beautifully done at that.
I particularly loved how several of the plot points and twists properly turned my head, and my view of what might be possible: real "oh wow" moments. That's pretty rare in any kind of modern sci-fi I think.
I haven't read the book, and on your description, perhaps I won't, now.
I liked the adaptation. I have only read the first novel - which covers the first 5 or so episodes - but thought that the changes made sense for a tv version and for widening the focus away from Beijing. I too noticed the slight reduction of nihilism from the book.
enjoyed the show and can't wait for next season so have started reading the books, starting with the first naturally. Didn't know there were 4 in the trilogy?
I've listened to book1 ages ago (i think i mentioned before the narrator was TERRIBLE - so bad it doesnt do it justice with just a capital T but all letters capitalised). But i liked the story. Currently in the middle of moving house from rural ideal to a townie so tv time has been non-existent but if i can squeeze in the eps before a hypothetical chat i'd be keen to join again. Have been diligently trying to avoid all the crap chatter online
Couple of episodes in, and it's starting to get going. It looks good and complicated and I'm really enjoying the shifts in perspective. I'll be keen to discuss in a week or so, if little Miss 3 year old would just play in her room.

What was that about a chat?

I only have a 1 Body Problem, and more like an 'over my dead body' problem where anything scifi is generally avoided, to my detriment.

"I haven't read the book, and on your description" don't listen to him what would John Birmingham know about writing stories.
I'm 3 episodes in and enjoying it immensely.
In the meantime is the Masters of the Air discussion still on the cards? I finally finished that and I have THOUGHTS.
Started the first book, but lost interest. Have not seen the adaptation.
I enjoyed the Netflix series much more than the 1st book. I hope it gets renewed. I'd like to see them do the other 2 books with the same flair

I'm half way through; haven't read the books but I think I'm following. There is a lot going on and I'm intrigued to see where it lands.
I'd like to see it, but...

Redemption of Time (The Three-Body Problem Series, 4) by Baoshu
This is good to know.

Read all the books. Halfway through the show, keen to chat. Will drinking be encouraged again?
Of course.
In that case I'm in
