I recall a kids book I once had where a kid overfed his goldfish and it grew to monstrous size....ah, found it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Fish_Out_of_Water_(book)

I feel like there's a whole dystopian universe to be created about a giant man eating goldfish swimming around our drowned post climate apocalypse world a la Jaws vs Water World..

lol. For some reason my brain went to a "giant man who likes to swim around eating a giant goldfish". Not a giant goldfish eating a man. "if you grow them, he will come" :)

Yes a hyphen in "man-eating" would have been handy lol. Although a giant man swimming around eating giant goldfish in a post apocalyptic water world has a certain je ne sais quois about it 😂

I can never understand the mindset of people who derive joy from killing creatures for pleasure. One aspect rarely mentioned is that the victim will never produce offspring, thus potentially very many more fish will not, themselves, spawn the next generation. The expression 'sport fisherman' belies the fact that the sport is considerably one-sided.

But Carrot was released back to the waterway she was caught in. In good health apparently. And yes, sport fishing is one sided these days with virtually unbreakable braid.
