The dystopia gets worse than that. Think internet-style differential pricing in supermarkets (because the face-scanners know who you are). Or watch this advertisement (we can see you watching: don't look away) to get a discount at the checkout. Mary Meeker's 2024 prediction report has these and other fun ideas. (Oh, and AI-driven synthetic biology. Yay?)

Ugh. I struggle when the X to close a pop up ad is not in the top right corner. This idea is truly in a Total Recall future.

You should try it when the X isn't even part of the apparent 'window', but floating somewhere, almost blending into the background.

It’s kind of a perfect solution. The viewers have to pay attention enough to know what the ad is selling. Though ad agencies would probably tend to delay the brand reveal to late in the ad.
