Living in Canberra it's just a case of staring down the barrel of the next 3-4 months of this. And something about real seasons. Something about being able to duck down to Thredbo for a weekend of skiing. Something something beautiful crisp clear winter mornings.

Whatever.

14 C: that's an average late spring over here. Only last week we hit our first 20+ of the year.

Perth has begun its traditional move from perfect autumn weather of being sunny, high 20s as summer tails off to about a week of "gee it's a bit colder than expected in the mornings" to suddenly dropping 10 or 15 degrees and raining, and everyone complaining about the sudden cold and what happened to autumn? That's before the genuinely cold days set in around July and August where it will get below zero in the mornings on some days.

Ken Behrens and citizens of Hookturnistan will snigger, but contrary to popular belief Perth DOES get cold in winter, and this always seems to come as an immense surprise even to 3rd generations ISNoWians like me 😂

To be fair, Mrs W's English parents are still amazed to hear from her that the temperature in Australia goes below 0c. She has lived here for over 20 years. The same conversation happens every year.

Can confirm - the surf is HUGE (well it was yesterday). Did swim on the weekend too - ocean temp is a toasty 22-23C! Getting out is a challenge...

ha. Yeah - it snowed all sunday but didn't settle on the ground at my place (its at about 1000m) but the hills around me were all covered. Including the obligatory next day car crash on the highway at the high point with a car turned upside down and helpless like a turtle (no-one but egos hurt apparently). It's nice . . . . until you remember you only have the weekend to get stuff done so you pull on the wet weather gear and trudge out and turn your head when a particularly big gust of snow gets in your face.

It still is (and always will be) T-shirt and shorts weather.
