We’re having our first jujitsu class tonight, the first in many months. I can’t remember the last time I trained regularly.
Actually, yes I can. Before Covid.
Since then it’s been very intermittent. Even if it hadn’t been for Ms Rona getting up in everyone’s grill, I doubt I could have trained much the last 12 months anyway. I seemed to either be sick, or injured or recovering from surgery most of the time.
I’m feeling okay now, though, and I slowly, carefully getting my fitness back. My doctor doesn’t want me doing any intense cardio for another 5-6 weeks, but she’s cool with strength training so I bought myself a new toy and it finally arrived.
At my age it’s a better investment than a Harley or an MG.
Calling back to a recent column: not that long ago I acquired a rower for cardio. I added weights to balance out the weird collection of muscles the rower exercises (I never had visible shins before). I had in the past looked askance at the idea that weights could help with cardio but once my heartrate is up the weights do a good job of keeping it there.
It's all about intensity, innit. You can thrash yourself with weights if you want. I wouldn't recommend it, but you can. In fact my usual warm up involves shadow boxing with dumbbells. That'll get the heart going.
It’s going to be difficult driving that thing around town.
That looks badass. Easy to overdo it, though.

One might call this a torture center ;-). May I suggest low intensity cardio JB?
I do it every day mate, when I walk the dogs.
Very fancy!
Noice!
