If you’re Australian, and of a certain vintage, you know what comes next - which is why I enjoyed the hell out of this ABC piece explaining where the tradition came from. One thing the band was never able to figure out was where the cheeky chant came from and how it spread so quickly.
our yr12 end of year performance included this song only on the proviso that it wouldn't devolve into "that catch phrase". The poor kid organising it had a good reputation and allayed the teachers fears and . . .well . . . the inevitable happened. How could it not? Lol.
Got to join in this many times over the years but last year I got to do it with my son in the pit - not Doc up front obviously but still quite epic. Just happy he knows the words and joins in at the right time.
