I stumbled across this accidently and really enjoyed it. It felt like it got stronger as the story went on. They covered a lot of ground for 4 episodes, I would have loved it if they could have made it a couple longer.

As you said, the last episode is particularly impactful.

For more Rotoscoped movies the back catalogue of director Ralph Bakshi provides a few examples such as an early Lord of the Rings and one of my faves Wizards. Also Heavy Metal - the movie based on stories from the long running comic/graphic story magazine.

I haven't thought about Ralph Bakshi for a long time. I'd like to re-watch his films now that I'm much older, a little bit wiser, and significantly less stoned ;-)

A very good book. The 45th Division commander at the end of the was Robert T. Frederick. He was one of the best generals of the war and had previously formed the First Special Service Force.

I read the book and it was pretty good. Didn't even know this was a thing. Thanks!
