I keep telling myself that it was great to work the two days last week, as a way of soft launching the year. Pretty sure I'll be convinced sometime around June.

My mother rang me the morning of New Year's Eve to ask what I had planned for that evening and when I asked why she was enquiring she pointed out that it was, you guessed it, New Year's, and then laughed her head off at my astonishment.

I was telling my BFF today that I've never experienced the kind of temporal void, time slippage that I've experienced this week (I've never lost track of NYE, mostly because of the punctual arrival of the existential angst and ennui per my comment on a previous post). I think the day after Boxing Day, when all my family and social commitments had been completed and I was free to do sweet FA marked the moment I fell into the Void Between, and I've only just crawled out of it, wondering where the hell the last week has gone.

I had a bunch of projects that I foolishly entertained notions of completing over this break, and I've not started any of them (yet. Still got 4 days before I go back to work), and instead spent the Void either rotting in bed sleeping, rotting in bed reading, lying on the couch reading, lying on the couch watching Season 5 of Yellowstone or recovering from Season 5 of Yellowstone by watching Taskmaster.

My only regret has been that I didn't just take the rest of next week off and return to work on the 13th of Jan because I really don't feel ready to go back to work on the 8th šŸ˜„
