Just inject them directly into my eyeballs.
Once upon a time, a video game adaptation, and the umpteenth sequel in a long-running movie series, would've been a guarantee of quality spelled with a K.
But both of these projects look pretty cool to me. Interesting that they seem to have settled on female protagonists for both. Obvious why with Furiosa. But a bold decision with Fallout, I'd wager, given the usual culture war freak out over female leads in these types of movies.
I suspect it's hard to successfully adapt a game where one has "experienced" the narrative. I'm sure that someone will try to adapt "Mass Effect" - but if we've "been Shepard" do we really get much out of watching someone else play & interpret the character of Shepard? Movies & TV shows have a hard time living up to the books they are based on, but it's probably an order of magnitude more difficult to live up to a game that captured an audience enough for someone to even attempt to adapt it in another form.
There's a separate line of inquiry to be explored as to whether the increasing number of female protagonists is a cause or an effect of men shifting towards consuming entertainment/narrative content through computer games rather than through "traditional media".
Watching the Fallout one, some of the visuals felt like I was immersed in the game, some very family parts of the game like as familiar as home. Looking forward to this one, can't wait to hear Ron Perlman's dulcet tones.
