Between pastries for breakfast and pasta for lunch I wasn’t sure how Italians hit their protein goals each day — until I ordered the platter at the jazz bar down the street from us last night.
There’s a whole heap of salami and prosciutto on that plate, but the protein hero is the solid puck of raw beef in the middle. Carne crudo.
Gotta admit I was a bit taken aback when it dropped in front of me, but I had a tentative forkful, then I inhaled the lot.
