I’m only twelve years late to the party, but I’ve been enjoying the hell out of 2012’s time travel sci-fi series Continuum. It’s a Canadian effort that ran for four seasons and I have no idea whether they wrapped it up with a finale. But I’mma watch it all the way through, I’ve decided. It’s just too much fun.
The premise is my jam. In a future controlled by corporate overlords, a bunch of freedom fighter/terrorists are about to be executed for some mass atrocity when their evil genius leader whisks them back to 2012 to both escape justice and get a head start on the revolution. Inconveniently for them, but happily for our narrative requirements, a sexy future lady cop gets sucked back in time with them, carrying all of her sexy future sci fi gear with her.
Shenanigans follow.
It’s not Golden Era TV. It’s kind of schlocky at times, but the premise is cool, and the moral questions are surprisingly crunchy. The bad guys are both terrorists and freedom fighters, but they are also undeniably nasty. Our hero, City Protective Services (CPS) law enforcement officer Kiera Cameron, is separated from her family and faces a series of Outlander-style moral choices across the series' arc.
The FX are surprisingly good.
And happily I’ve just checked Wikipedia and found that, “The series concluded, with a complete and final outcome to the storyline, on October 9, 2015.”
Huzzah!
I really enjoyed it. Yes it does wrap up with "all are punished".
If you're enjoying this you'd enjoy Travellers on Netflix if you've not seen it. That was wrapped up in a satisfying way (I have now added Continuum to my TBW list).
Actually Bodies on Netflix would also very much be your jam, I was thinking about that as a recommendation off the back of the Dark Matter discussion we need to schedule.
