I've been getting into this mode as well. I only read reviews later to see if my brain agrees with people or not, and interested to see if i got it wrong. Sometimes you can really enjoy a terrible film for your own reasons. But most films these days are based on books, or a rehash in a franchise, or a rehash of the first release or an english version of a successful 'foreign' film, so you know whats going to happen anyway. Like Tom Cruise tussling with the bad guy on the edge of a cliff over a detonator for a nuclear device/chemical weapon et al (yes, i've been watching the MI movies lately because the first time around i gave up on the second movie and never revisited . . . maybe saw the third one as i remember Rhames but not the story and surprised that they got a lot better. I think Simon Pegg as comedy relief helped the franchise)

It's the same with books. There are so many opinions out there and spoilers suck but are getting increasingly hard to avoid. The only way i seem to do books these days is off recommendations from groups i trust (have got a few good ones from this group). Probably means i miss out on a lot of surprises. But also i don't have to feel guilty putting down an unfinished book (life is too short and it took me a while to stop pushing through books that didnt click)

I think the last movie I went to was Harold and the Purple Crayon. I won’t give away any spoilers but OMG wait until you see the big twist at the end!
